MEFTI Summits

Background 

In 2018, Maine Farm to Institution (MEFTI) and our many partners held the first Maine Farm to Institution Summit at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center in Belfast.

The aspiration for the Summit was to gather farmers and food producers, food service operators, advocates, educators, administrators, and others dedicated to cultivating the power of institutions to develop an equitable and resilient Maine food system. The Summit inspired and energized the network through sharing best practices and innovative strategies; enhancing network capacity through skill building; and strengthening collective impact by engaging food producers, educators, decision makers, leaders, and policymakers in shared problem solving.

Looking Ahead

The global pandemic and subsequent staffing shortages at MEFTI’s fiscal home led to a lapse in summit events, but in 2024, we’re ready to bring it back.
